Gain the Confidence that Comes Along with Looking and Feeling Your Best.
Breast Augmentation
The increased self-confidence from a fuller, shapely chest continues to make breast augmentation the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure available today. And with well over 50 years of advancing technology plus improved techniques, there are ample choices available to meet your exact goals.
What are my options for larger breasts?
There are three primary options for breast enlargement surgery: saline implants, silicone implants, and no implant fat transfer to the breasts. Implants consist of a silicone shell filled with either a sterile saline (salt-water) solution or a silicone gel. These can vary in size, projection, and contour to provide the full spectrum of results- from a very subtle, natural result to a very full, projected, noticeably augmented look. Each type of implant for breast augmentation has its advantages, disadvantages and indications and we will help decide which is best for you.
Am I a candidate for breast implants?
An ideal candidate for a breast augmentation (“Boob Job”) is 1) a woman who is looking to increase breast size, 2) a woman who is looking to add more fullness and shape to the breast tissue, 3) a woman with deflated breasts after pregnancy or weight loss or 4) a woman looking to correct an imbalance in breast size.
A breast augmentation is a safe, direct way to increase breast volume, size, symmetry, and in certain instances can also provide a slight lift of the nipple position to increase the appearance of full, perky breasts.
Should I get saline or silicone implants?
The breast augmentation options available today have moved well beyond the basics of saline v. silicone implants. New products and advances in current technology are constantly improving the materials and techniques available to provide superior cosmetic results, minimize downtime and ease recovery. With so many options available, breast augmentation should never be viewed as a “one technique fits all” type of procedure. During the consultation, we will assist in further defining your goals and help to guide your decision in choosing the most suitable method for breast augmentation.
What are the advantages of a Saline implant?
Saline implants consist of a thin silicone shell that is filled with a sterile salt-water solution once the implant has been placed and positioned in the breast pocket. The ideal candidate for a breast augmentation with saline implants is a young woman with low to moderate breast tissue volume that is undergoing their first breast augmentation procedure. Advantages of saline filled implants include a smaller incision, lower cost for the implants and in the case of a rupture, immediate notice with implant deflation and safe absorption of the saline filler by your body. However, saline implants offer less versatility in achieving a subtle, more natural result. Therefore, they are an excellent choice for women seeking a more full, distinctly augmented look.
What are the advantages of a Silicone implant?
Silicone implants have benefited from significant advances in technology to offer the most diverse profile of implants available to meet your breast augmentation goals. In general, silicone implants consist of a silicone shell pre-filled with a solid, but soft gel providing an excellent option for patients looking for an augmentation with a more natural look and feel. Additionally, the various strengths (cohesivities) of silicone gels available today allow a tailored look while still maintaining balance with your natural body shape and profile. In simple terms, this means that no longer do extra-large, heavy implants need to be used to provide significant improvement in breast shape, cleavage or projection. Due to their versatility, silicone implants are an excellent choice for anyone looking to add breast volume.
What is the recovery after breast augmentation
Breast augmentation surgery is performed on an outpatient basis under mild general anesthesia. The breast implant placement typically takes about an hour plus an additional hour in recovery before going home. A support bra will be worn to help minimize swelling and allow early activity. Following implants, minor discomfort and soreness is standard, but basic activities may be resumed within the first 24-48 hours. Most patients can resume normal daily activities without any discomfort after one week, stretching and light activity in 3 weeks and strenuous exercise at 6 weeks.
Do Breast Implants Need to be Replaced?
Breast Implants are medical devices that are subject to normal wear inside your body. To ensure you maintain the look you desire and minimize any potential problems with the implant, breast implants manufacturers generally recommend replacement of breast implants every 10 years. A breast implant exchange procedure is usually more straightforward than the initial breast augmentation because the implant pocket has already been created by the prior breast implants.
Can other procedures be done at the same time as a breast augmentation?
A breast augmentation can be performed alone, but is often combined with other female breast and body procedures including a breast lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction.
