When you look in the mirror, do you see the well-defined, strong cheekbones of a masculine face? Or does your face look too full or too round? If so, the problem may be due to extra fat in the cheeks area known as buccal fat.
What is Buccal Fat?
The buccal fat pad- often referred to as just buccal fat- sits along the lower portion of your cheeks and is part of a larger group of fat pads that provide structure and volume in the face. The amount of buccal fat in your face remains consistent throughout life and does not change with diet and exercise. For this reason, extra buccal fat is often the number one reason a healthy, fit man still has the look of chubby cheeks or chipmunk cheeks.
What Does Male Buccal Fat Removal Do?
Removal of buccal cheek fat is one of the most simple and effective ways to permanently slim the face and highlight the cheekbones and jawline- the features essential for a strong, masculine appearance.
How is Buccal Fat Pad Removal Performed?
A male cheek reduction with buccal fat removal is done as an in office procedure using local anesthetic and takes approximately 45 minutes to one hour. A small incision is made inside the mouth and the excess cheek fat is removed. The incisions are closed with stitches that dissolve on their own. Recovery is straightforward and most people only report a slight soreness for 1-2 days.
Is All the Buccal Fat Removed?
No, only the extra, unnecessary buccal fat is removed. Leaving some buccal fat in place is important for support and function in your face. During the procedure, enough fat is removed to ensure a slim contour of the cheeks, but not to much in order to avoid a sunken or wasting away appearance.
What Will I look Like After Buccal Fat Pad Removal?
Since the incisions for buccal fat removal are inside the mouth, there are no visible scars on your face from your cheek reduction procedure. While a result may be seen immediately, final results are typically seen several weeks after all mild swelling has disappeared.
Can Other Male Plastic Surgery Procedures Be Done at the Same Time?
A male buccal fat pad removal procedure can be done alone or in conjunction with other male plastic surgery procedures such as male chin implant, male face and jawline contouring, male liposuction, and male eyelid surgery.
SCULPT Men’s Center specializes in male plastic surgery and non-surgical cosmetic procedures for men.
